Focus on Fun Experiences
Chaffee County’s new trails with good maintenance, signs and in-town connections, better fishing, water park features, low-elevation motorized trails, and trailhead parking are appreciated by residents and visitors alike. We will invest in this by focusing new recreation development in concentration zones around populated areas to support continued favorable experiences for all. This includes easier pedestrian access and new connections to make the popular trail systems even better.
Community Concentration Zones (CCZs)
Concentration Zones were developed by the Rec Council and Taskforce to expand popular recreation experiences in and around towns. For example, new trail connectors and safe street crossings enable everyone to walk, bike, run, e-bike and use mobility scooters on a crossing from Poncha Springs to Salida over Highway 50, and completing the Whipple and Walton trail loops in BV.
